There's this radio station that Ryan and I have set to come on at 6:45 every morning to wake us up. A short while after it turns on, a certain radio game comes on. This has become somewhat of a favorite morning ritual in our house. The game consists of a question of some sort - usually based on a poll or survey, to which listeners try and answer by calling in. The winner, of course, receives a prize. Ryan and I have tried on and off for months to call in with our answers, and have even been successful quite a few times at getting through. The morning hour must be a little less busy than other times. So, with the encouragement of getting through a few times in the past, we've become rather obsessive about playing and getting the right answer. I discovered one morning that on the radio station's website, before the game is played, they have a hint as to what the question will be. So, many mornings when Plava wakes up at 2 or 3, I get her back to sleep, and then quickly go online to see if the hint is there yet. I've even done a little googling in order to get some hints before. Am I crazy?
This morning, the question was as follows:
Harlequin Romance, the staple of trashy novels asked its readers to name the one thing that can ruin a first impression. What was the number 1 answer for both women & men?
Ryan and I started calling in, and much to my surprise, I got through on the 5th or 6th try. I guessed, "Is it bad body odor?". (typical....) The response was negative. So I tried again and about 10 tries later, it actually rang again. I quickly asked Ryan what he thought, and he suggested 'a person talking about themselves too much'. So I guessed it, and the DJ said, "Well, you're close - it's the closest we've gotten to the answer, and we really need to get this finished, so I'm going to give you the answer! Just pretend I'm answering again okay?" And he gave me the answer. "Is it a lack of intelligence?" I asked sweetly. "YEAH!! You got it!" He exclaimed. "WOO HOOOOO!!!" I yelled back. And the prize was mine.
On the website, this is what they published:
Answer: Lack of intellect! [Laura is today's smartypants!]
Ahhhh, sweet victory.....sort of.
