pep talk

Well, today I finally got there. After about 3 or 4 days of trying and just not getting around to it, I made it to the Running Room and bought some running shoes.

I waltzed in with Plava on my arm, and boldly told the woman working there that I was looking for some running shoes that would hopefully be the solution to a painful aching knee problem.

She said, "Okay Missy, loose the shoes and walk for me."

"Um, sorry?"

"Loose 'em. And walk."

"Uh, okay." And I took off my shoes. "Socks too?"

"No, dumbo, just the shoes. Now walk."

"Riiiiiight. Here I go." And I trotted up and down the centre of the store.

She crouched, eyes fixed on my feet, obviously doing some complicated thinking as her furrowed eyebrows twitched and her lips held themselves, pursed together.

"Okay. Stop. Sit."

"Yes, ma'am." And down I plopped, like a child in front of a watchful teacher.

"You've got hardly any arch. Do you wear anything but flip-flops? Your arch sucks."

"Uh, that's why I'm here. Can you recommend something?"

"Yeah, I've got some shoes you can try out. There are about four pairs. You got time?"

I glanced down at Plava who was busy sitting on the floor playing with my keys. "Yeah."

She left and promptly returned with a couple pairs. I tried them all on and made my selection - a fancy-pantsy pair of blue and silver puppies. I eyed the lady, then said, "Okay, I've decided."

"Bring 'em here. I'll ring 'em in for you." I followed, Plava and diaper bag in hand.

"Three hundred and seventeen dollars and forty three cents."

"WHAT? Are you serious?" I hadn't even looked at the price.

"No." She smirked, "One fifty-four ninety."

"Oh my goodness. You had me there." I sighed a sigh of relief and paid.

"You take care of that little rug rat." She barked as I left the store.

So now I can get back to running. I hope that all is well with the knees from now on. Thank you to all of you who gave me advice and pep talked me up for keeping on going! I'm raring to get back into it and get in shape!!!

Oh, and this story....I completely made it up. :) Tee hee.

Ok, yeah, so we are all wondering, do you really have new running shoes? I myself have recently gotten back to running, and I am loving it. It stinks, but it also feels good at the same time. It helps that I just got an mp3 player that I can use with my workout songs. When I can't hear my breathing, it doesn't feel so much like I want to die.

okay, I admit it. you are my hero. Now that we have that established can I make some "topic requests".

How you stay stress free and so laid back.
How you keep a good head on your shoulders and keep such a positive perspective.
