1 - The weather. I'm not sure what's going on this winter, but we here in Vancouver have seen storm after storm after storm. It started in November with the biggest snowfall we've seen in years - and it's not usually cold enough to snow yet in November - and continued throughout the dark months with windstorm after windstorm. Power outage after power outage. And now, today, we have proof that the weatherman is not always right.
Last night he said that it will probably snow overnight and we might have a thin layer in the morning.
This morning he said that we may see a few more centimeters in "localized areas" but it will taper off by noon and only a few "localized areas" will see small patches of flurries this afternoon.
All in all, we should have had about 10 cms of snow on the ground.
It's now 4:04 PM, the snow hasn't ceased for a minute around here, and the accumulation is about 20 - 25 cms. Not only that, but we have the pleasant added effect of a layer of ice under the packed snow, so driving is not an easy task.
Not that I'm complaining. I like the snow. But come on, weatherman!!
2 - I was profoundly affected by a commercial the other day. This is unusual, coming from someone who tries her darndest NOT to be affected by the tube.
It was a simple commercial. It started with a young guy opening a closet, and seeing a basketball roll out. He backs away, terrified and slowly inches around it and up the nearby staircase. During his theatrics, two sentences appear on the screen.
"Getting active won't kill you."
and....
"But you might die sooner if you don't."
Um, okay. Yeah, I'll be going out for a run now.

Ah HA HA HA!!!
That commercial sounds hilarious. I don't watch television (because it's evil) so I haven't seen it, but it sounds funny. What's it an ad for? Just being active?
As for the snow, I'm lovin' it! The only thing I don't like is the traffic going soooo slooow.
So many articles are chalking it up to a climate change. I have heard so much about global warming and climate change, but I really don't think we can conclude that it's because of that. I like to think it's just a freak winter. It's just easier to think about it that way though, isn't it?
As a South Dakota girl I LOVE the crisp mornings with nothing but sun. The thing I am NOT enjoying is trying to get out of the driveway in the morning!
