just a game?

I'm home alone with Plava tonight. It's alright. Actually, it's really nice to have a night alone once in a while. I've been enjoying myself, and no, I haven't spent the whole evening on the computer playing games and emailing. I have a tendency to do that, but I resisted tonight because I said to myself, "I'm going to do something productive!!!" Yes I did. So I got out my paints, got out three canvasses that I've been planning a piece on (yes, Vandops, I'm talking about your painting), and I got to work. I worked my butt off, let me tell you. It took a good couple hours of serious concentration to produce the thing, and I can hardly believe I finished it. I may add a little here and there to it, but it's signed and presentable!! I'm happy with it too. If I had a picture of it, I'd post it here, but I don't! Haha!

Now, as to why I'm alone. Well, Ryan has gone off with his dad to see our very own Vancouver Canucks play tonight. Yep, he's at a hockey game. It's probably nearing the end of the 2nd period right now, the bright white ice gleaming with little bodies zooming back and forth over it. Am I jealous? A little. Am I glad to be home alone? Well, yes. I'm a loyal Canucks fan, don't get me wrong. I'm filled with glee when they win, am filled with sorrow when they loose, and feverishly rage over the darn shootout rule when they loose because of it, sweating and tearing at my face with my nails in anguish over such a silly change in the rules!!! Who ever had such a problem with a tie game in the first place?????

But I can control myself. Oh yes. I can even get tired of hockey, if you can believe it. I got tired of it this season, when the Juniors were fighting their way to the final. I was happy that they pulled it off and won the tournament, but really. I personally felt that watching two leagues play at the same time was a little much. Is that so crazy? I started groaning when Ryan, flipping, would stop on hockey. I silently cheered when he sadly discovered that a certain game was only available on Pay-Per-View. I started dreaming of pucks chasing me around a race track, and Bertuzzi coming at me from behind, me only escaping a fractured spine by a hair...

But all in all, I do enjoy watching those guys. If it weren't for my desire to make something of my evening, I might have spent the time flipping, looking for the game on tv. (that is, if it wasn't on Pay-Per-View!) I have a soft spot in my heart for Nazzi and the twins. Yes, I will watch and cheer and mentally guide that puck into the "bad" team's net for years to come. You'd be hard pressed to keep me away.

I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one whose heart starts beating quicker when Kev stops on a game of say, The Hurricanes and the Thrashers...who cares? ;)
