No 'Poo
So I've started a new little experiment. Yes! I have!
I'm doing the "no 'poo" experiment. Now before you jump to the (seemingly obvious) conclusion that this has something to do with bowel movements, I will correct you. I'm taking the challenge of a fellow natural-living advocate and following her example of not using shampoo or conditioner on my head for a while. (Here's the article.)
So, essentially, I'm avoiding the shocking amount of toxins that shampoo and conditioner have (who knew?) and am washing my hair with...wait for it...baking soda! Yeah!! And even better, I'm conditioning it with apple cider vinegar!! Woo! Sounds rather smelly, doesn't it?
Well it's not, actually. It's surprisingly normal feeling. Yes, my hair feels like straw after the washing part, and there's a smell of vinegar in the air when I condition, but as soon as I'm out of the shower, I feel like I washed with my normal stuff.
The differences? Well, apart from not absorbing the chemicals, my hair has SO MUCH BODY!! WOW! I mean, I need to kind of tame it down somehow....seriously. It might be partly because I'm preggers too and have the overly abundant hair of pregnancy... Another plus? Super cheap! Woo!
Anyway, fun experiment!

Hi Laura!
Thanks for linking to my post! Glad you're loving the no 'poo! I'm still going strong. While my hair used to feel like straw after the baking soda wash (before I conditioned with the vinegar), it doesn't anymore! Maybe that will change for you too after your hair goes through the detox period.
All the best with your pregnancy!
Crystal
Hey Crystal! Thanks for the comment. Both my husband and I are doing the no'poo thing and love it. My hair didn't complain much at all in the beginning. Lucky me!
